ketika gadis 15 tahun bernama Clary Fray pergi ke Pandemonium Club di New York City, dia tidak mengharapkan untuk melihat pembunuhan apalagi dengan 3 remaja aneh yang bertanda dan bersenjata aneh lalu tubuh itu menghilang ke udara. sangatlah susah untuk menelpon polisi karena pembunuh itu hanya bisa dilihat oleh clary dan mayat itu sudah hilang.

ini adalah pertemuan pertama clary dengan shadowhunters (pemburu bayangan). prajurit yang didedikasikan untuk membersihkan bumi dari setan. Ini juga pertemuan pertamanya dengan Jace, seorang Shadowhunter yang terlihat sedikit seperti malaikat dan bertindak banyak seperti orang brengsek. Dalam dua puluh empat jam Clary ditarik ke dunia Jace, ketika ibunya menghilang dan Clary sendiri diserang oleh setan. Tapi mengapa setan akan tertarik mundanes biasa seperti Clary dan ibunya? Dan bagaimana Clary tiba-tiba bisa melihat mereka (shadowhunters, demons, warlock,etc)? Shadowhunters pun ingin tahu ..


pertama-tama saat saya membaca buku ini, saya bingung dan tidak mengerti apa maksud buku ini. tetapi nanti kalian akan penasaran ke buku selanjutnya seperti saya. ah, saya cinta buku ini!
